Jimmy Dean Sausage Recalled After Customers Find Metal Pieces

nearly 30,000 pounds of Jimmy Dean Sausage being recalled due to metal shavings

It's time to play everyone's favorite game - are there any recalled products in my freezer?

Today's contestant comes to us from CTI Foods LLC, who issued a recall for 29,028 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat Jimmy Dean poultry and pork sausage links due to metal contamination. According to a release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, five people called the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service to report they had found metal pieces in their sausage products.

CTI Foods issued the recall on Monday. There are no reports of anyone being injured by the metal pieces, but the USDA officials are concerned that some people may still have the sausage packages in their freezers.

The 23.4-oz product being recalled is "Jimmy Dean Heat 'n Serve Original Sausage Links Made with Pork and Turkey" with a use by date of January 31, 2019. You can check and see if you have any of the recalled products by checking the package for the code A6382168 with a timestamp range of 11:58 through 01:49. You'll also see "EST. 19085" on the back of the package.

USDA officials say people who have the recalled products in their freezer should throw it away or take it back to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned they may have been injured or having an illness should contact a healthcare provider.

People with questions about the recall are being directed to contact the Jimmy Dean customer service line at (855) 382-3101.
