Cleanup Begins After Isaias Knocks Out Power to Over 700,000

Peak wind gusts reached as high as 68 mph in Bridgeport and 66 mph in New Haven. This li'l pic was snapped early this morning down the street from Radio Towers Park, the tree begging for the wires to give way. But, hey, at least a truck was on the scene. As is the norm after many a storm, folks are bemoaning the absence of utility trucks in the areas. It could be days for many. This is one of the largest power outage events in the state's modern history, among the ranks of the October Snowstorm, Tropical Storm Irene, Hurricane Gloria, and Hurricane Sandy.

As of 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Eversource is reporting more than 605,000 outages.
