Americans Are Secretly Relieved To Not Host Holiday Parties, Survey Says

For many, the holidays will look different this year. Due to the ongoing pandemic, many households will be celebrating the holidays without their extended family and friends.

According to a new survey, seven in 10 Americans are actually relieved those big holiday parties won't be taking place this year. A break from hosting duties is a small silver lining after a challenging year.

The study, which was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Velveeta, asked 2,000 nationally representative Americans about their holiday plans amid the pandemic. The results revealed 56 percent of respondents are also disappointed to miss out on their go-to holiday parties.

Sixty-five percent of respondents shared now they'll be making up for any disappointments this year—snacks. Three in five respondents said snacks and appetizers are the best part of a holiday meal, while 72 percent of participants revealed they prefer to snack more during the holidays than any other time of the year.
