Meet Minnie! A Friendly 4 Year Old Kitty Hoping to Find Her Forever Home!

We know that cats love boxes, but some cats are hard to put in a single box. By that, of course, we mean that they are hard to categorize. We cannot easily describe them in one word- sweet, shy, friendly, fractious... they appear to be both all and none of those things.

Four year old Minnie is one of those cats. Minnie was adopted a few years ago and was recently returned because the resident cat in the home could not adjust and bullied her. The adopter loved Minnie and desperately wanted it to work. Because of this she probably let a bad situation go on for too long. We understand. It is heartbreaking to surrender a cat you love so much, even when you know it is best for everyone involved.

The experience of being bullied for a long period likely explains why Minnie can come across as a different cat at different times. When it is quiet and you approach her gently, Minnie is a sweetheart, purring, rubbing against you, confident, friendly... the kind of a cat that will greet you at the door and sleep curled against you. But approach her too quickly and she might step back or hide, appearing timid. And approach her when it is loud and chaotic and Minnie might hiss or even growl. She tries to act tougher than she is, frightened that you might intend to hurt her. Knowing her back story, I am sure you understand.

Minnie needs a quieter home with adults or children over 8 who have some cat experience. She would do fine as an only cat or with a nice cat who will be respectful of her need for space. In this type of environment, and with time to feel safe, Minnie will be able to show her true, loving personality all of the time. And you will be able to describe her in a single word: wonderful.
