Luigi Mangione reportedly expressed concern for the McDonald's employee who called police on him from a Pennsylvania McDonald's, warning that it "wouldn't be good for her" if her information was made public, the New York Post reports.

Mangione, 26, reportedly showed a sign of remorse for inconveniencing the public while being detained in relation to the December 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to a letter sent by his attorneys on Wednesday (March 26) revealing his first post-arrest statements.

“I apologize for the inconvenience of the day,” Mangione reportedly uttered during his arrest, his lawyers claimed in court documents obtained by the New York Post.

Mangione also reportedly asked his public defender if the name of the McDonald's employee would be released publicly as he appeared to fear that his supporters would go after her.

“They aren’t going to put the cashier from cashier from McDonald’s information out there, are they?” Mangione reportedly asked. “It wouldn’t be good for her. A lot of people would be upset I was arrested.”

Mangione publicly requested a laptop in jail as he awaits his trial, according to a court filing obtained by the New York Post after being made public late Monday (March 24). Mangione's attorneys made the proposal to allow him to view a vast amount of documents, video and other material related to the case, rather than using it for communication.

Similar limited-laptop provisions had previously been made for other defendants being held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where Mangione is currently being held without bond. Prosecutors argued against the request, claiming some witnesses have already been threatened in relation to the case.

Defense lawyer Karen Friedman Agnifilo publicly denied that Mangione had any "connection" to "any of said alleged threats." Mangione pleaded "not guilty" in a Manhattan courtroom packed with at least two dozen women and six men watching in attendance on December 23, the New York Post reported at the time.

Mangione was found carrying a ghost gun, masks and a manifesto linked to the incident at the time of his arrest, authorities confirmed.
