Bill Introduced To Change How CT Residents Access Town Beaches

The price and who is allowed to enter Connecticut Beaches may change.

House Bill 6650 has the potential to put an end to certain counties' prohibiting non-residents from accessing beaches. It would also set a cap on the charges of non-residents to no more than 50% more than what local residents pay to be at public beaches.

With a Public hearing held on February 17th, many local residents are opposed stating they believe this will increase the traffic of these towns, not paying the same town taxes for the upkeep that brings in non-residents with the new proposal.

What do you think? Should all Connecticut residents be given the same access to the state beaches or should the increased fees for non-residents stay the same to account for town taxes and upkeep of the area?
