Tuesday on 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe, Jonas Knox, LaVar Arrington and Brady Quinn discuss the possibility of the Niners making a surprise pick in the Draft instead of rewarding Brock Purdy a long-term deal.
Jonas Knox: "They're trying to retool and add some new pieces. They got a bunch of draft picks, they'd like to see a little bit more. And if he goes and has a great year this next year, it's going to cost you more in the long run, that's a good problem to have, because at least it's the the safe move."
LaVar Arrington: "You can't be all the way sold on Brock Purdy based upon what his draft grade was and how he was used and managed within the offensive scheme that Kyle Shanahan has, with the personnel that he was able to do it with. You can't possibly say, I can rest assured that Brock Purdy is the franchise guy for our team in a rebuild mode. Can't do it."
Brady Quinn: "The organization is going to see it and think differently than everyone else. And so maybe San Francisco is that surprise team that takes a quarterback in this year's draft. One that they feel is undervalued, very similar to Brock Purdy, who when they took him, they thought he was undervalued."
